Did you wake up this morning feeling lousy, hungover, totally out of it?  Do you feel out of control? Do you wish for a change in your life?

When I was younger, I felt I was being pushed by life.  I had dreams of a better future but didn’t know how to attain it.   I had a job, but it wasn’t a job I liked.  I wanted to meet a nice man and get married.

One afternoon I was sitting in a restaurant, and they had a message on the wall.  “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.”  As I contemplated this, I realized that if I didn’t make changes in how I viewed and walked out life I would be in the same place on the same date next year.

I could go on just as I had been, but nothing would change.  I knew Christ, that wasn’t the issue.  I felt comfortable and changing required feeling uncomfortable.  That didn’t mean God wasn’t with me, it just meant my comfort would change.  I would be uncomfortable until I reached a new level of comfort by making changes.

To get a better job meant going back to school and completing my degree.  To get married meant I had to move out socially.  I was more at ease as a hermit than socializing.

If you don’t like where you are today, you must be willing to change.  Does that mean getting help for an addiction?  Does it mean going back to school?  Only you know what change you want in your life, but you must be willing to embrace change no matter how uncomfortable that is.

I have a friend that was an addict.  She realized that if she didn’t change, she would die, alcoholism was taking a toll on her body.  She decided to go into rehabilitation.  She has been sober over eighteen months now.

A year ago, she started attending community college and has earned a Certificate in Human Services and is now halfway through her associates degree.

Her life prior to becoming sober was one I would never have wanted to endure.  But she has overcome.  She has relied on God to help her through this time.  She is a beautiful person physically but more important spiritually.  God is restoring what Satan stole from her, a good life.  It is not where she would like it to be but it is one hundred percent better than it was eighteen months ago.

We did not have to overcome the same things to get where we wanted to in life but we both had to overcome.

There are two kingdoms at war in this world the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan.

John 10:10 New American Standard Bible 1995 Christ states “10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and [a]have it abundantly.”

3 John 2 New American Standard Bible 1995 states “2 Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.”

Deuteronomy 30:19 New American Standard Bible 1995 “19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your [a]descendants.

Are you willing to embrace change for a better tomorrow?
